When I think of the word "Kawaii," my mind goes directly to Japan. The Japanese have been so successful in adding cute touches to pretty much anything, from mascots to house ware items, they are all Kawaii! This article will show you some of Japan's cutest mascots, right down to fashion. Hey, you may even recognize some.
From t-shirts in Hot Topic, to lanyards and wristbands. Domo-kun is well loved in Japan and Just recently, the United States. But the question is: Who is Domo- Kun?
Domo is the Japanese television station NHK's ( A.K.A. TV Japan) mascot! Domo made his first appearance in 1998 on the 10th anniversary of NHK. Over the years, the little mascot gotten so popular that he even has his own manga and game on Facebook!
Hello Kitty is well known worldwide and is Japan's most popular kawaii character. Hello Kitty made her first appearance on a coin purse in 1974 in Japan. Hello Kitty was created by Yuko Shimizu, and is loved by both girls of all ages!
In Japan, Kitty has two theme parks that young ones like to flock to all year. Sanrio Puroland and Harmonyland. Both parks are very well designed and really makes you think that you have entered into Kitty-Chan's world!
In other parts of Asia, Hello Kitty opened up other places! A Maternity Hospital, dentist office, resturants, and just recently, A Spa in Dubai! So Kitty is really making her mark, and hopefully one day they consider making plans on bringing even more Sanrio places in the U.S. I'll be looking forward to that. Just recently a few months back, Taiwan's EVA Airlines, flew it's first Hello Kitty aircraft to L.A for the first time!
